Research and comparison methodology
Last updated: July 30, 2026
This site uses desk research to organise policy questions. It does not maintain a live premium database, assign provider scores, report mystery-shopping tests or name a universal winner.
Source hierarchy
- Current provider documents: Product Disclosure Statement, policy wording, Target Market Determination and policy schedule.
- Personalised quote: the offered premium, excess, benefit settings, fees and eligibility for the reader's own pet and postcode.
- Provider support: written clarification when a material term is unclear, retained with the date and context.
- Regulator or dispute body: official guidance for general legal, complaint and escalation context.
Fields compared
Where the current documents disclose them, guides direct readers to the same decision fields:
Current-data rule
A premium, benefit, limit, waiting period or eligibility statement is not treated as current unless the page identifies a source document, version and review date. When that evidence is absent, the page points readers to the current provider documents and a personalised quote.
What this method does not prove
Document comparison cannot predict whether a policy is suitable, whether a future claim will be paid, what a renewal will cost or how a provider will handle an individual case. The site does not purchase policies or submit claims as part of this research.
Corrections and commercial links
Readers can report a source conflict through the contact page. Material corrections should identify the changed source or wording. Some links may generate a commission; commercial relationships are disclosed separately and do not convert the content into personal financial advice.
Important
PetInsuranceGuide is not an insurer, broker or financial adviser. Read the current PDS and TMD, obtain a personalised quote and seek licensed advice if you need a recommendation for your circumstances.
