Petsy Pet Insurance Review 2026
Petsy is the value pick that punches above its weight. 90% reimbursement, no sub-limits, and prices starting at $25/month. It is the insurer I recommend most often for people who want good cover without the premium price tag.
Premiums from $25/month, up to $25,000 annual limit, up to 90% reimbursement, Canstar award winner. Underwritten by Petsy Pty Ltd. Last updated: June 2026.
The Short Version
Petsy's main selling point is 90% reimbursement at a price that undercuts RSPCA and Trupanion. Most budget insurers cap reimbursement at 80%, so that extra 10% back on every claim is real money. They also do not impose sub-limits on individual conditions. Some insurers cap specific treatments at $2,000-$5,000 regardless of your annual limit. Petsy does not play that game. The $25,000 annual limit is competitive but not top-tier. Petsy is newer than the old guard, and the claims experience does not have the same track record as RSPCA or Bow Wow Meow. But the pricing makes it hard to ignore.
What I Like
- Up to 90% reimbursement at budget pricing
- No sub-limits on conditions
- $25/month starting price for dogs
- Digital-first: app-based claims are fast
- Canstar Outstanding Value award winner
- 5% multi-pet discount
What Could Be Better
- $25,000 annual limit (RSPCA also $25K, Bow Wow Meow $30K)
- Smaller brand — less claims track record
- No unlimited limit option
- 5% multi-pet discount is lower than competitors

Who Should Get Petsy
90% back at budget pricing is the sweet spot. You get near-premium reimbursement without the premium price.
Lower-risk breeds that do not need unlimited cover. The $25K cap is plenty for most scenarios.
Petsy's app is cleaner than most. Upload a photo of your invoice and move on with your day.
Same caveat as RSPCA. French Bulldog or Golden Retriever owners: Trupanion's unlimited cover is the safer bet.
My Take
I like Petsy. It fills the gap between bare-bones budget cover (Budget Direct at $20/month, 80% back) and premium cover (Trupanion at $45+, 90% back). At $25/month with 90% reimbursement, it is arguably the best value in the market. The no-sub-limits policy is genuinely consumer-friendly. A lot of insurers advertise a $25,000 limit then hide $2,000 caps on cruciate ligament surgery in the fine print. Petsy does not do that. For a Cavoodle or a mutt, this is my top recommendation.
