🏙️ NSW
Highest vet costs in Australia, especially in Sydney metro. Paralysis ticks are a serious risk on the coast and in the Blue Mountains. Comprehensive cover with tick paralysis included is the safe choice for coastal NSW. Premium loadings in Sydney's eastern suburbs and North Shore can add 10-20%.

Generally lower vet costs than NSW. No paralysis tick risk (ticks do not survive Melbourne winters). Snake bites are the main environmental risk, especially in regional areas. Melbourne metro premiums are the cheapest of the major cities for most breeds.

The One Thing That Varies Most by State: Tick Cover
Paralysis tick treatment costs $2,000-5,000 and is most common on the east coast (NSW and QLD). Most comprehensive policies cover it. Accident-only policies generally do not.
